To the Readers:

This book entitled iMath 9: K to 12 Curriculum Series is published under iBook Publishing, Inc. It
comes into the series of Kinder to Grade 10 following the competencies of the K to 12 Program prescribed
by the Department of Education. The features built in this book will help every learner acquires the
important skills and concepts they needed. Each topic is thoroughly discussed and provided with
numerous examples for better understanding of the learners. After every lesson are activities that will
assess how the students understood the topic.

Through this book and support of the teachers and parents, it is our hope that learning
mathematics will be exciting, enjoyable and effective.

Authors

Cecilia M. Marcelo graduated in Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
(PLM) with a Bachelor of Education major in Mathematics. She earned her units
in Master of Arts in Teaching major in Mathematics from National Teachers
College as MTAP scholar.

She spent her first three years of teaching at Roosevelt Memorial
High School in Project 4 Quezon City as a Math teacher for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-
year students. She also taught Mathematics II, III, and IV in Rizal High School
from the year 1989–2004. She became a Master Teacher from the year 2004–
2008 and taught Mathematics IV. Currently, she is the Head Teacher of the Mathematics Department at
Manggahan High School. She had been a Mathematics Coordinator, a Year Level Coordinator, a Faculty
and Personnel Association’s President for SY 2004–2005 and SY 2006–2007. She is also designated as
Officer-in-Charge of Manggahan High School for quite some time. She had been a Quiz Master for several
Metrobank-MTAP-DepEd Math Challenge, Division Team Finals and a lecturer/facilitator for numerous
Seminar-Workshop in Division of Pasig City. She was also given a chance to be one of the lecturers in some
MTAP-DepEd-NCR Seminar workshop/convention annually. She had been involved in textbook writing
and curriculum materials development for High School students.

Nenet M. Peñaranda finished her undergraduate course in Mathematics
and Physics at Bicol University College of Education in the year 1987 and earned
units in Master of Arts in Education in the same institution in the year 1994.
She spent her first eight years of teaching Mathematics and Physics at St. John’s
Academy in Camalig, Albay. She also taught the same subjects in Polangui,
Albay General Comprehensive High School for three years and transferred to
Rizal High School, Pasig City in the year 1998. As a scholar of DepEd-Tan Yan
Kee Foundation, she earned the complete academic requirements in Master in
Science - Mathematics at Ateneo de Manila University in the year 2006.

Over the past twenty-seven years, she taught Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and other areas of
Mathematics for secondary levels. She was a facilitator, lecturer, and a resource speaker in the different
trainings and seminars in Mathematics in the Division of Pasig City and in the MTAP Trainings in NCR, as
well. She also participated and gained the expected instructional leadership competencies in the SEAMEO
INNOTECH Course. Her comprehensive knowledge of teaching Mathematics and broad perspective of the
application of Mathematics inspired her to write Mathematics instructional materials.
