This textbook follows the format under the given competencies in the curriculum
             guide of the K to 12 enhanced Basic Education Curriculum programs. This book comprises
             four units – Matter, Living Things and Their Environment, Force, Motion, and Energy, and
             Earth and Sky.


                    This book aims to provide learners with a repertoire of competencies important in a
             knowledge-based society. The instructional activities included in the work textbook aims
             to develop learners’ critical problem-solving and decision-making ability, innovativeness
             and creativity, and communication effectiveness.


                    This book is divided into two parts – the first comprises the lessons to be discussed,
             and the second is the activities to be answered.

                    In this book, you will find at the beginning of the unit the Overview of what will
             be discussed along the way. A Pretest is also given before each module. Pretesting is
             written questions that assess a learner’s strengths, weaknesses, knowledge, and skills to
             be studied in the module. Each lesson has Learning Objectives that are used as a guide
             on what will be achieved at the end of the lesson.


                    Each lesson is presented with a practical scenario before a thorough discussion.
             The Summary shows the generalization of the topic. Did you know that the lesson’s trivia
             and Word bank are essential terms.


                    The workbook is the second half of this book. Building Skills comprise three activities
             to build and enhance the learners’ scientific skills and values. The exercises on Building
             Skills are the following:


                    •  Test Yourself: Observations and experiments about the topic.
                    •  Skills Workout: Exercises applying the skills learned from the topic.
                    •  Mind Challenge: Real-life questions or scenarios that would practice the skills
                        learned.


             Teachers’ Guide


                    This book is infused with different teaching materials to help the teachers effectively
             discuss the lessons. It has a Teachers’ Manual as the teachers’ guide on the execution of
             each lesson and the activities provided.

                    PowerPoint  material  presents  the  book’s  content.  The  teachers  can  use  it  as
             a visual presentation, and a Movie clip related to the lesson can also be used as a
             reference by the teachers during the discussion.


                    Various processes and concepts are expected to be fully understood, and basic
             skills are strengthened so that the learners will be prepared for higher Science and the
             real world.
